Devon and Cornwall in the South-West of Britain have some excellent castles to visit. Pendennis was built by Henry VIII to keep out foreign invasions after his break from Rome. The others are medieval with Restormel and Launceston being fine examples of unusual shell keep castles. There are few examples of this type of castle but this area has four. Mention also must be made of Tintagel castle and its links to the legendary King Arthur.
